# LUCY

> Lucy is a persistent, personal intelligence in development by SphereGrid Studios. Tagline: "Intelligence, Unbound." Lucy is an R&D project at version 0.1 (foundation phase); it is not yet a released consumer product and no launch date has been set.

The entire public site is a single page at https://hilucy.io/. All of its copy is present in the HTML without JavaScript.

Key facts:

- **What it is:** an intelligence that remembers you, understands your world, and grows with you — designed so you don't have to start every conversation over.
- **Four pillars (all in development):**
  1. Memory — context that persists beyond a conversation: history, preferences, relationships and goals.
  2. Intelligence — coordinates powerful external reasoning models while keeping continuity in Lucy's own persistent architecture.
  3. Action — works across software, tools and workflows, acting with your permission.
  4. Embodiment — research into vision, voice, spatial awareness and robotics to interact with the physical world.
- **Reference architecture (target, not yet deployed):** inside a local boundary (personal compute, memory under your control), Perception (cameras, microphones, environmental sensors) feeds Lucy Core ("the brain": persistent orchestration and decision-making), which reads and writes Memory and drives Action (software and tools, home devices, future robotic control). External reasoning models sit outside the boundary and are interchangeable; Lucy's identity and memory never belong to any one model provider.
- **Ownership principles:** your memory under your control; independent of any single AI model; local-first, cloud-enhanced; actions guided by your permissions; privacy built into the architecture.
- **Development status:** current work covers core orchestration architecture, persistent memory infrastructure, local compute and storage integration, a robotic control API, and camera and sensor integration. First milestone (an objective, not yet delivered): Lucy recognizes you when you enter a room, remembers who you are, and starts a conversation.
